Valentines Day Outfit Update!

Hi Everyone! Sorry I couldn’t get this up earlier for inspiration, but I thought I would post it now to show you what my fabulous Valentine’s Day look was and to give inspiration for future date night looks!

Instead of going for the typical red or pink look, I thought I’d opt for a different color. I am wearing an adorable mint blue cropped blouse. The skirt is a heavier material with a leather waist and a “scale” looking pattern. But don’t worry it’s not supposed to be a fish pattern or anything. I paired this with plain black tights, and since there was quite a bit of slush, I wore black zip up boots (not shown).

My absolute favorite part about the entire look is my hair and makeup, all done by yours truly! It took not even 45 minutes to get ready, which is actually fantastic compared to other times. If you would like more details on the hair and makeup of this look, please let me know! I’ll be glad to show a tutorial on my typical makeup routine and other date night looks!

I hope all of your Valentine’s days were marvelous! Have a wonderful rest of your night and keep up to date with Navy and Lace! There is more to come this week!

Beauty Secrets: Brows

Lately I have been getting a lot of questions about my eyebrows. People have asked me if I fill them in using makeup or have some sort of secret remedy to keep them full. I don’t do either of those things, and here is why!

From a young age, everyone is blessed with beautiful eyebrows of different lengths and sizes to fit their face. Where they go wrong is how one maintains them. Many people either shape them themselves or get them professionally waxed. However, they always make the mistake of going too thin! Thin THIN eyebrows are not a pretty look, especially if they do not naturally fit your face. Some people do have naturally smaller brows, which is completely fine! But it is when people pluck them or have them waxed where they get into trouble!

The key to keeping them looking beautiful and natural is to have them shaped. I go to a wonderful woman who is the master at waxing! She knows what shape is perfect for your face and will never take too much off just for the sake of making them thinner. In between waxings, it is important to pluck, but only the tiny hairs that are growing back out! Never pluck your eyebrows to shape them! Only to take off the fuzzies!

My wonderful esthetician is Esther at Andrew Michaels Salon and Spa in Salem Ma! I have been going to her for years and will never go to anyone else! Click on the name above to see the full menu of their services!

So take extra care of your brows! They are more important than you may think!

Kate Spade-

I stumbled upon these Kate Spade bags a week ago and could not resist! They are perfect for Valentines day with their heart themes, but will also look adorable for everyday. They are small and easy, and a great way to achieve both dressed up and down looks! They are pricier, but definitely worth the splurge!

Jewelry is always the go to gift for Valentines day! However, everyone thinks it has to be diamonds to qualify for the purchase! But it doesn’t! More trendy staple pieces that a girl can wear everyday are the go to gifts of this season. My favorite jewelry company Bauble Bar sells adorable statement necklaces and other colorful, delicious pieces. The prices range from inexpensive to expensive, and some of the pieces can even be custom monogram. Other fashion bloggers, such as Courtney Kerr have designed a line of pieces for the company! Check it out!

Crystal Firecracker Bib                   TicTac Drops

For the girl who loves everything sweet, but doesn’t want to splurge on having a bite of candy, philosophy is the perfect solution! Their sweet treat lotions and body washes are delicious and actually smell like the goodies that they are supposed to represent. The packaging is also perfect and doesn’t even need wrapping!

Let’s take an adventure…

I have a love hate relationship with winter! I hate the snow and the cold, but I love layering and wearing my favorite knits! It’s a battle I’ll never win living in New England. With the winter months dragging on, I am here to take adventures… through the world of style of course! 😉

Today I wanted to feel put together and chic. I did not care if I was comfy or not! I wanted to strut my stuff and dress to impress! With a hair appointment and errands to run (Valentines day around the corner) I was ready! Instead of wearing jeans today, I threw on a pair of casual high-waisted black trousers. They have a draw string waist and zipped up pockets. To make them less “formal,” I tucked in a plain white cami and layered over a wool, black and white knit cardigan. Adding warmth, I wore my fave burgundy fringe scarf and my favorite heel booties!

This outfit took me two minutes to put together in my head! It is so easy and has the ability to look different every time you wear it! The pants are also a must for girls who do not like the tightness of jeans, but want a comfy “legging” feel.

I have also been getting many compliments on my eyebrows, which I will do a post on soon!

February Favorites!

Happy February! I thought I would do a little beauty segment and show my favorite products of this month! These are the products I use religiously and swear by! Enjoy!

I had to have a “What’s in my bag picture!” Looks more authentic!

1) Skin Care!

I have three products that I cannot live without this month! Skin care is really important to me and something I take very seriously! The first is the Kiss My Face Peaches and Cream body lotion. I found this in a local health food store! The scent is to die for,  and it contains all natural ingredients to moisturize and keep skin clean! It is not greasy like other lotions, which is a crucial part to any product I choose. The second is the Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Scrub in Pink Grapefruit! I love the little beads in the face wash! They feel great on your skin with warm water, and it also makes your skin feel actually clean after! Finally, Ponds Makeup Remover Wipes in Original are a necessity! This is the only remover I use to get my makeup off at the end of the day! It’s important to use a product that removes all the makeup, leaving no traces behind. This does just that! They are perfect for girls with sensitive skin too!

Along with being crazy about skin care, I am also crazy about what I use on my face for makeup! I want makeup that will give me a flawless, full-coverage look, but doesn’t make me break out! Although expensive, I use Nars Sheer Matte Foundation in Deuville. This is by far the best foundation I have ever used! It matches my skin perfectly and gives me a clean, matte finish on top of my normally oily skin.  To blend and apply the foundation, I use a beauty blender. These are also the best invention ever! They are a sponge that you rinse under water and use damp, in order to achieve a smooth and natural look. To cover up blemishes, I love my Sonia Kashuk Concealer Palette. It gives four shades: a lighter shade, medium shade, green shade to help redness, and a powder. This is the best concealer and covers blemishes instantly. This product can be purchased at Target! Another concealer I use to cover up under eye darkness, is my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Darkspot Concealer Treatment. This is perfect for covering up dark circles under your eyes and highlighting the T-zone on your face! Finally, Lashes Lashes Lashes! I am obsessed with long, full lashes! Some people think you need to wear fakes to get them! That is false! I use Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in black! It lengthens and makes the lashes look fuller without having to deal with clumps!

3) Hair, Lips, Nails, Perfume

Finally, the rest! I am constantly curling and waving my hair! It is a change from wearing it straight or up in a bun! Everyone always asks me what I use to make my curls stay all day. I use Elnett Hairspray, which I’d like to think is my secret weapon! It comes scented and unscented and holds the hair all day without making it crunchy and hard! It is also the only hairspray that you can fully brush out! To cure chapped lips this month, I am an Eos addict. My best friend got me several for the holidays, and I haven’t been able to put mine down. The fruity flavors are so refreshing and they are easy enough to throw in your purse and go! The best nail polish on the planet is Essie! It has been proven to last much longer than others, and their colors are the best! Finally, the perfume of the month goes to Viva La Juicy by Juicy Couture! It smells sweet and feminine, but isn’t too strong to wear the entire day!

Those are my absolute favorites of the month! Enjoy and please try some of them out!

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday! More blog posts will be up this week! Sorry for the delay! I have been fighting off a nasty cold! To start off the week, I wanted to wear something that was was easy, comfy, but made me look put together! What I got was an adorable blazer and jean combination!

I am wearing a olive green cropped blazer with an open front. I paired this with a long, flowy cream blouse, that is technically “racer-back” with a scoop neck. On the bottom, I threw on a pair of dark legging jeans, adding my chestnut riding boots!

I like how the outfit is a combo of simple colors. The green makes the outfit pop, but the blazer adds a classy component. The boots give it an equestrian feel, while still keeping it simple with minimal jewelry.

Monday’s shouldn’t have to be difficult! Put on an adorable blazer, flowy blouse, and jeans, and you have a classic outfit that is school and business ready!
