Get The Look: Young Hollywood Edition

We all want to dress like our favorite Hollywood stars, but on a budget! With spring just around the corner in this part of the region, I’ve been dying to replicate some of my favorite looks from some of young Hollywood’s most desired actresses. These girls all have one thing in common; their style! Even though they are under 25, their style has matured beyond their years, and most importantly, they aren’t afraid to take fashion risks! That’s admirable! Below, I chose some of my favorite looks and found items nearly identical, but much cheaper!

Chloe Grace Moretz

This Kick Ass star surely knows how to kick ass on and off the red carpet. Her look below is a perfect and feminine way to bring in spring/summer. The patterned shorts adds a pop, while the knit uses one solid color to tie everything together! The photos below her show a cheaper alternative. The red daisy shorts adds a pop, complimenting the comfy cream knit. Underneath, a bandeau top or bralette can be worn just like Chloe in the other picture!

Hailee Steinfeld

Hailee showed she had true grit in her film, but off camera she truly has a softer side. I love this look she wore on the red carpet! This textured cream dress is the perfect piece to wear on a night out to a nice dinner or even dressing it down for a day at the park! The dress next to it is very similar, but on budget! It is the same cream color as Hailee’s and even has the textured flowers on the bodice! This dress gives a more defined shape, which is flattering on all body types!

Saoirse Ronan

This beauty surely doesn’t need to atone for her style choices! Saoirse is on point with her style, and I absolutely love her choice of a cute two-patterned dress with short crop jacket. The patterns balance each other out, and the style of dress is perfect for her body shape! The crop jacket is a nice touch, especially in this adorable pastel blue tone, but is definitely optional! The dress can stand alone! The one style below is a great alternative! It has a very retro feel! The two tone material fits the same style as Saoirse’s, and also maintains the same shape with a collar and buttons. To top off the look, I found a version of Saoirse’s shoes, but in a bright mint color! Perfect for the warm weather!

A Little Fun in the Sun…

A little fun in the sun?! You think I’m crazy, right? I’ve been dying for warmer weather! We are officially at the cusp of Spring, but are still being held back by the terrors of winter. With so many new spring pieces to wear, I decided to pretend it was warm out and venture for a little time by the ocean.

On this wonderful adventure, I am wearing a navy blue and white flower kimono. It is cotton and light weight, adding a little flow and flare to any piece. I kept it simple by pairing a white tank underneath and a burgundy scarf. A little pop of color never hurt no one! I then wore just a pair of plain skinny jeans and chestnut riding boots! I can’t forget the sunglasses of course! These cute round black shades (along with the kimono) is one of the many new items I purchased yesterday! In love with their shape and style! Perfect for any outfit!

I love this outfit featuring the kimono. It’s a perfect piece to wear on a slightly colder day or to wear when the sun is blazing. This would look perfect with a dress, any other type of pant, or high waisted jean shorts for summer! It is transformable for virtually any season!

I cannot wait to show you the rest of my purchases! Hopefully the weather will be nice to us and give us spring earlier! Until next time!

*P.S. Other random pictures are included of todays adventure!

Winter, Winter, Go Away and Don’t Come Back Another Day

Spring is a day away, and although I may complain about how I need warm weather soon, I will be sad to put away my sweaters and boots, closing out yet another winter season. As I wrap up the cold combos of outfits, I decided to try to get another couple of wears in from my favorite pieces!

Today was extra chilly, so I wanted to go with a warmer look. I am wearing a long knit cardigan with checker type detailing. I paired this with a cream peplum top and a pair of my fave skinny jeans. To finish it off, I layered on a burgundy scarf to keep warm and added a long chain necklace with a statement piece. I then chose to wear my military lace up boots to add an edge on to the look!

This was a really easy look to put together and definitely one that I love! I have had this cardigan for some time now, and I love it! The colors mesh together well, and the styles fit perfectly together. This is something you can achieve with any sweater, scarf, and jeans! Definitely a must!

So, add in your last minute winter pieces to create comfy and warm outfits to fit your weather! Until next time…

From the Runway to You!

I’ve always been obsessed with runway looks! There is an essence of beauty to each and every one of them. They are a piece of artwork that you may not want to wear, but appreciate because they tell a story! However, I am always interested in finding everyday pieces that can get me the runway look, yet still fit me and my style. ( And my wallet of course!) Below I have selected some of my favorite spring looks right from the runway and styles that I found to give you that “right off the runway” look!

The runway look is provided by Alberta Ferretti. The floral print pops on the runway, and the style is a perfect girly addition to the dress. The dress to the right is provided by Forever 21. It is a fit and flare dress with short sleeves and vibrant floral colors. This a perfect way to achieve the runway look, keep within your budget, and really show that spring has sprung!

This short and crop top combo look on the runway is from Balenciaga’s 2014 Spring collection! These matching shirt and short combinations form a put together look, while still feeling fun and flirty! A similar look is shown to the right by Asos. It still has the high waisted short and crop top feel, but with a nice floral pattern. Adds a touch to a normally plain look.

Pinks! They are a trend for Spring 2014! The look on the left is by Burberry Prorsum! It features a blush dress with a collar and a beautiful cotton lace feel. The look on the right is a less expensive and chic look by Asos! You still get the innocent feel from the color and the semi-conservative style, yet showing off your fashion for the warmer days!

These looks combine a sophistication of the runway and a fun air of spring! Try them out! These looks will take you right off the runway!

And just to show you what I’ve been up to this weekend…

Where’s my horse?

I will be the first to say that I am not a country girl. It is a fact. I was born to be a city girl. The glamour that a city exudes and the hustle and bustle of everyday is what attracts me. However, when it comes to style, I am open to anything! I actually find a cute lace dress and riding boots to be sweet and innocent. However, I always end up joking around and asking the question Where’s my horse?

Since the weather was much warmer than usual, I decided to go tightless! I was shocked myself that I could walk out the door and not even freeze! I wore this adorable peach, lace dress with cap sleeves and a little button up back. The dress is on the shorter side, but no worries! Shorts can be worn underneath, depending on comfort. I then paired a semi-faded cropped jean jacket over and of course added my chestnut riding boots to finish off the look. I then pulled my hair back into a high pony and was ready to embrace the spring air!

I really like this look! Even though it is a little outside of my comfort zone, I love how comfortable it is! It also has elements of grace and sweetness! This look can be achieved with nearly any dress! Just think! You could have different outfits for everyday using simply the dresses in your closet! How could it get any better?!

So next time you are in the mood to add a spring air and some country flare, try this look! You will be surprised at how versatile it is! Dress it up, down, make it edgy, or plain! As long as you are wearing your confidence then that is all that matters!

Long Hair, Don’t Care

Hair is an important part to every girl! If your hair isn’t looking good for even one second, it feels as though the entire world is crashing down. Bad hair days really are not fun. I decided to shy away for a day from the usual fashion post, and take a journey through my hair styles of Navy and Lace. Trust me, I have had my fair share of hair do’s and don’ts. Let’s take a journey and I’ll give you my secrets to long, full, and stylish looking hair!

Curly or Wavy:

IMG_1927 IMG_1959 IMG_1969 IMG_2008 IMG_2173 IMG_2237

I love curls and waves! Ever since I learned my “own” technique to doing it, I have been obsessed! I get asked a lot how long it takes me to do my whole head… It actually only takes me about 20 minutes! My hair is naturally wavy and somewhat thick; therefore, it can hold the curl much better! My recommendation is to curl your hair when you haven’t washed it recently. If you absolutely have to, make sure you only blow dry it. Do not straighten your hair because then it will not allow your hair to fully hold the curl! Lots of hairspray is also a necessity! I am the hairspray queen, and that is probably the main reason why my hair stays in place so well! I use Elnett by Loreal, which I have discussed in previous posts. I typically use a curling iron with a one inch barrel and simply wrap the curls around it! I do not use the clamp. Curling wands also work, depending on how tight you want them to be or how long you want them to last throughout the day! I will hopefully have a tutorial up soon!

Bun Head:

IMG_1951 IMG_2241

Sock buns are a perfect way to style your hair on a bad or lazy hair day! I first discovered them when I was struggling with messy buns! Sock buns are clean looking and easy to do. All you need is a regular sock! Just cut off the toe and roll the sock into a scrunchy! Take your high ponytail and then begin to roll down the sock on the pony, and the hair will slowly wrap around it! It’s easy, simple, and free! You don’t even have to purchase anything!

Straight Hair:

IMG_2009 IMG_2255

Straight is my go to! I would technically say it’s my signature because it is what I wear normally! I do blow dry and flat iron my hair, but not every day! Everyone thinks I do, but that’s a lie! I don’t wash my hair everyday because it drys it out! So, I do every other day, with styling in between! I use a baby bliss flat iron, and it is my life! They are expensive, but they guarantee to last years. Since I am a hot tools pro, make sure you are using your flat irons and curling irons properly! Do not have it on a temp that is too high! It will burn your hair! Make sure it is at a level that your hair can handle! Also, take time to learn and use them properly! Youtube is a great place to do so! Trust me, that is how I learned all my tips and techniques.

I hope to get a tutorial up soon and actually show everyone! But until next time!

Moments of Spring

Today felt like spring! The sun was shining, the weather was above 40 degrees, the birds were chirping, and the air smelled of fresh flowers. I was so excited to spend the day out and about, ready to enjoy a day without snow! My first instinct was that I had to choose an outfit appropriate for the lovely day!

I wanted to go jacketless today, so since there was still a cool breeze, I decided to still layer a bit! I lightly layered a black 3/4 sleeve sweater with a sleeveless collared floral blouse! I was able to feel semi springy with my floral top, but still warm with the black sweater! I threw on a pair of dark skinnies, some flats, and curled my long locks to complete the look of the day!

Since it was still chilly out today, I didn’t want to completely open my spring wardrobe. I added a piece of it to my winter attire and was ready to go out! I love how you can only see a peek of the shirt, not giving away the entire thing, since spring hasn’t made its grand entrance yet!

So for a day like today, add pops of spring to your outfit, but don’t give it away too much! Still keep it a little secret for when March 21 arrives! Until next time!
