A Sunday Meant for the City

Happy Sunday! The weather was beautiful here! Although there was some debate on what to do on this gorgeous day, I finally decided that time in the city would be perfect for an easy afternoon walk!

I am wearing a navy blue kimono with white daisy print. I paired it with a cropped, white eyelet shirt, also with a daisy pattern. For shorts, I threw on a pair of light wash denim with rips on the front. Sandals were simple flats with a little brown strap! The waves in my hair were from yesterday, (they stayed perfectly in place) and I wore a tinted moisturizer for SPF coverage!

Simple but easy style is what I look for nowadays with the sun blazing! The kimono added a cool, hipster touch to what could have been just a bland outfit! They are a great way to take shorts and tee to a whole other level!

Stay cool on these warm summer days, but always remember to enjoy your style too!

First Impression: Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow

While browsing in Sephora the other day, a beautiful, shimmering product caught my eye. Everyone that knows me knows that I love anything that sparkles or shimmers! Stila just launched their new summer colors for their Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow! At first, I thought it was just a sparkle that is applied over your desired shadow, but after I read the instructions, I realized it came with a kit that contains an eye primer and mixing tray. I thought I’d give my lovely viewers a first impression on the product and show the process of applying it as well!

* Color I am wearing is Metallic Dusty Rose

I actually really like this product! At first, I was hesitant because the kit and application seemed like a difficult and tedious process, but I was able to find a video by Sephora on Youtube promoting the product and showing methods of application! There are two ways of applying: one mixing in the tray and the other applying the primer to the lid and then applying the shadow separately. They do sell a brush intended to make application easier, but I found using my index finger was super easy and fool proof.

This is a product that you may have to play around with, depending on the look that you want. I love the fact that the product has a buildable coverage, meaning you control how much you want to sparkle with the amount of shadow you apply. (I applied a very subtle amount to the eye on my first try!) This is great alone, but I would love to use it just on the lid with a smoky look! It is a little tricky when it comes to removing because of the loose sparkles, but I recommend using a baby oil or gentle makeup remover on the eye.

I will definitely be using this product more and give it 5 STARS! It’s definitely a fun item to use, and unlike any other shimmer pigments!

It truly brings out the sparkle in your eye!

You should always put your best foot forward when hosting a party! Never slack on the details, but always enjoy the moment! Yesterday, I was so lucky to enjoy a room filled with wonderful people! I, of course, did not forget to bring my style game.

I was wearing a floral print dress with solid white torso and open back! The colors popped on this lovely summer afternoon. And on the plus side, matched my nails! I wore a pair of sparkly, round stud earrings and a matching Tory Burch bracelet! My hair was curled in waves and makeup was bold with pops of copper and magenta!

This dress was perfect for the occasion! Wear it to a party, dinner, or out with the girls! Floral prints are a must for summer and will spice up any closet!

I know this post was short, but I hope it was sweet! Enjoy the people in your life, celebrate any moment you can, and always feel fabulous! Thanks again for the wonderful support!

Shades of Summer

I slowly, but surely feel my style transforming into the true summer vibe. With my skin getting tanner and my makeup being applied less and less, I’m turning to my closet to form outfits that show my love of the summer heat and bright skies. My fave item lately?! Light weight pattern shorts! Throw it on with a loose fitting top, and your outfit is complete!

I am wearing a pair of daisy pink pattern shorts with a cream background! The shorts are a light material with pockets and an elastic waist band! They can be worn higher or lower depending on your mood! I paired a simple, white sleeveless blouse with a V in the front. To accessorize, I paired my gold and peach face Fossil watch, a pair of simple sandals, a pair of white drop earrings, and my translucent brown baroque style sunnies. Makeup was kept on the more pink/peach side today, and hair was left straight!

If you do not have a pair of these shorts in your closet, then I recommend getting a bunch of them! They are so comfy, yet so stylish! They can be worn casual with a loose crop top to the beach or worn more put together with a strappy sandal and loose blouse like I did! Accessorizing is key to transforming this pair of shorts from easygoing to very dolled up! Mine are from a store located in Charleston, SC called Willy Jay’s! Check them out on Facebook or Instagram! They also have a website that I’ll link below.

Find a fun pattern that you love and wear them everywhere! I promise you, these shorts will change your life!

Pinks and Floral

You can never wear too much pink and floral, right? Of course not! My two favorite things were a necessity while trying to get ready on this very gray morning! I am tired of this dreary weather and wanted to wear something that brightened my mood and matched!

I decided to pull some light pink/ peach ripped shorts out of my closet and paired it with a floral sleeveless button down! I wanted to feel “matchy” today and like the sun was shining! (Even though it was not.) The style was simple and easy for a day of errands. I threw over a jean jacket when I needed it and just added a pair of simple sandals! I didn’t do much with my hair except keep it straight, so I could easily pull it out of my face when needed!

These shorts are very on trend and can be paired with nearly any shirt in your closet! Below are the store links and similar pieces! Enjoy my loves!

Elle, you’ve done it again!

I have a new found respect for Elle magazine, and it starts with a “D.” Dance: to move rhythmically to music, typically following a set sequence of steps. It is something that I love, and I, myself, know the passion and feeling that one gets when connecting with the music and story of a dance. They recently released a spread with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, in which some of the performers showed off their skill in some of summer’s most desired trends and pieces.

Seeing this, I was blown away and captivated by the beauty of both the dancers and their bodies. I give major thumbs up and five million stars to Elle for using such a creative and amazing skill to show off these beautiful pieces of art. It’s about time we step away from the standing model and move our way towards a body with movement, poise, and grace.

Below are just a few of the photos and a link to the Elle magazine site where the entire spread can be viewed!

The TOP 3!

While I was browsing through my blog photos, I realized that I have not done a trend post in a while! Just the other day, I was browsing my closet and noticed three main pieces that are must haves for summer! You might be thinking, What’s so great about these three specific trends? To answer that, you will just have to keep reading!

The trends I’m about to describe aren’t your usual maxi or leather moto jacket; these are pieces that are sometimes rare, but absolutely necessary to spice up your closet!

My first trend is the Shift dress! With a bold and bright, yet subtle pattern, this dress makes for a perfect look for any occasion. I happened to wear mine for graduation. The neckline is cut nicely to fit most busts, and the back scoops inward to form a slight racerback with exposed zipper. (There’s a seashell on the zipper too!) Mine was purchased at Urban Outfitters, but stores like Forever 21 will have similar dresses, but at more wallet friendly prices!

My second trend is the Jumpsuit! These are the most comfy pieces of clothing, aside from the romper of course! They add a casual feel for day time, but can be transformed into a dressy night look with some cute chunky pumps and a clutch. The one I am wearing is from Forever 21. It is strapless with a tribal black and white pattern, draw strings at the hips to cinch the waist, and a black stripe that travels up the leg! Forever 21, as well as Marshall’s  has some very cute and inexpensive choices too!

The third and final trend of mine is the hippie blouse! If anything, these are a must for every girl! They are so fun and flowy and make it easy to feel put together on those lazy days! In the photo, I am wearing an off the shoulder white blouse with long sleeves, and I paired it with high waisted shorts.  (Yes, I am wearing shorts!) I purchased mine at Marshall’s, but noticed this trend throughout Forever 21 and Anthropology! Definitely a must have!

These trends are an absolute must in my opinion! Check them out, try them out, and feel fabulous this summer!

In Paradise…

A lot of you may have thought that I have been MIA lately, but trust me when I say that I am back! I was on a little vacay with my family in South Carolina and did not forget to blog! I was able to capture some of my fave outfits with some lovely scenery! Our first stop was Myrtle Beach where I was able to bask in the sun and get my well deserved tan! For dinner, I wanted a fun, yet casual outfit. With a cute pair of shorts and halter, I was able to feel a little boho while in my own paradise!

I am wearing a pair of pattern, light weight shorts with blues, creams, and black! The pattern is tribal and perfect for day or night! I paired a very flowey halter blouse with lace detailing that was semi cropped. The top created a boho feel to the entire outfit and perfect for a humid evening! The colors are great for summer, adding neutrals with a beautiful blue hue! I paired a simple pair of sandals and kept the rest of the look very plain, letting the shorts do the talking!

These shorts are the best trend to develop this summer! They are so comfy and light weight! The patterns dress up a boring old short and top look, making it chic and put together! Forever 21 is the place to buy these adorable pieces! Check them out!

So, wear the shorts! Don’t let the shorts wear you and always feel fabulous, even in the hottest of summer weather!

Navy with maybe a little lace…

With changes fast approaching in my life, I look to my love of fashion and style to remain constant in my life. It is the one thing that I will always love and will never change. It will only grow… My blog has been a great achievement, and as I look back on this year and others, I am glad to have such a positive outlet for expressing my desire to dress chic and be confident! In fact, I thought my dress in this post was quite fitting for the title of my blog. It’s navy with maybe a little lace…

I am wearing a simple white and navy blue dress with pattern detailing in the occasional stripe on the dress. The pattern and colors reminds me of a very nautical setting. Not pictured are my shoes, which were a plain sandal. I also paired my new Fossil gold watch with a peach face. My hair was waved and pulled back on the side and my makeup was simple with hints of copper.

This dress it a perfect summer classic and easy for those hot nights on the boat, or cool days shopping on the coast! Pair it with heals or flats and a bright clutch, and you are good to go!

I will be shooting more fashion posts in the next couple of days! Bear with me! They will be up shortly!

Lady in Red…

It has been long overdue, but with everything coming to an end, I finally found time to post my last and final prom look of the year! My last prom ever was an absolute blast, and I felt like a complete glamour girl in all red with a pop of rouge on the lips! Below are some fabulous pictures credit to my lovely sister Ashley!

My dress was by Jovani, jewelry was purchased at Icing, and shoes are from DSW! Hair and makeup was inspired by the beautiful Carli Bybel and is a very old Hollywood glam look. It was my last prom and knew I had to go all out for it! Feeling beautiful and glamorous on such a special night is something every girl deserves!

More posts will be up this week! I promise!
