Simple Stripes With A Twist

Hi all! It’s Maddie! I have known Courtney for a long time, and over the years we have become best friends! Bonding over our love of adorable dresses, fabulous accessories, and beautiful makeup! We met dancing together and have been inseparable since. I am so excited to do a blog post for Navy and Lace!

Today, I chose a simple striped cotton dress, and dressed it up with a chunky turquoise necklace for a pop of color! As well as some bright flip-flops! They are a bright orange color that remind me of a melted popsicle! I love this dress because it is so comfortable, and I can dress it down with a jacket and converse, or dress it up with a bright necklace!  This outfit is perfect for a fun summer girls night out!

Accessory Challenge Day 4: Pops of Color

Happy day 4 of my accessory challenge! Today I am talking about everything color! With spring around the corner, color is about to awaken and fully bloom! However, for a girl like me, neutrals are staple pieces in my wardrobe! So, how do I fit in with spring once it has sprung? Just add jewelry with delicious and decadent colors!

All jewelry shown in my accessory challenges has been provided by the wonderful Leavitt and Co! I decided to show two looks that fit this situation! Basic neutrals, such as white, tan, navy, black, or gray are great to have in your closet! They insure that you can wear them over and over different ways every time and in any season! However, what’s a girl to do when spring is almost in the air? Add bursts of color from her jewelry! In the first look, I am wearing my favorite navy and white striped “cold shoulder” shirt and a pair of leopard pattern jeans! To spice up the look a little, I added a green and navy floral necklace from Leavitt and Co! The necklace meshes perfectly with the strips, adding a pop to a naturally plain piece! In the second look, I am wearing a jersey black jumpsuit with some simple sparkly flats! To make it even more exciting, I added a beautiful colored and diamond floral necklace! This is also by Leavitt and Co and is a very popular statement piece for this coming spring!

The perfect thing about these necklaces is the fact that they can be worn with pretty much anything! Although each is very colorful in itself, it is versatile enough to adapt to any neutral piece of clothing!

So remember, pops of color are important to add, in order to spice up an outfit! Check out Leavitt and Co for more of their collections and keep up to date with me, here at Navy and Lace!

Accessory Challenge: Day 3

Happy Day 3 of my accessory challenge! Once again, if you have not been keeping up with my last couple of posts, I am doing an accessory challenge this week with some amazing spring goodies from Leavitt and Co!

I am a girl whose style changes like the wind! I love trying out different types of styles and genres of fashion! Recently, I have been very into the boho/hippy feel! It’s not only cute and different, but very comfortable and versatile!

I am wearing a black and cream tribal print kimono with black tassel detailing! I paired this with a plain white tank and some baggy, high-waisted black slacks with a slim fit ankle! I then wore this chunky, pink Leavitt and Co necklace to add a pop of color! I finished the look with a black wide brim hat and some short, camel colored booties.

I love this look! Although it is not everyday for me, it is something to play around with and try out! Some may think it’s too eccentric for them, but it is actually just about combining pieces and making it your own! I do recommend purchasing a long kimono! It’s an easy way to achieve a boho look! Pair it with a pair of jeans instead, some loose waves, and an easy tee, and you are good to go!

The necklace ties the entire look together, and I am absolutely in love with the color and style! For more jewelry by Leavitt and Co, check out their website posted below or Facebook page, and keep up to date with the rest of my accessory challenge!

Accessory Challenge: Day 2

It’s day two of the accessory challenge, and I am so excited! If you did not see my last post, this week I am doing a accessory challenge, featuring some gorgeous spring goodies from Leavitt and Co! I absolutely love light pastel colors! I have recently been obsessed with mint because it is bright and vibrant, yet subtle at the same time.

In this look, I am wearing my $13 pair of pants that I talked about in my previous fashion haul video! They are black jeggings with a soft floral pattern. I paired this with my mint blue blouse, in order to pull the hints of pastel out of the pants. I then layered on this gorgeous mint jeweled necklace by Leavitt and Co! Some may think that the mint on mint combo may be too much, but the color is subtle enough to combine the two! I finished off the look with a pair of simple brown flats!

I fell in love with this necklace! It is classic, but combines modern shapes and elements together to make an outfit pop! Because the color is simple, it can be paired with nearly everything! I especially love it with a pair of edgy pants like mine! It combines the best of both worlds!

Keep up to date with my accessory challenge and to see more of Leavitt and Co’s spring items! Until next time!

A Quick Rainy Day Post!

Hi all! Hope the weather by you is much better than here! I, yet again, found some adorable pieces last night that I wanted to show on the blog. Unfortunately, the forecast is still yucky out! However, I braved that cold rain to bring you a quick post with some of the new pieces I purchased!

The shirt I am wearing is one of the new pieces that I purchased! Unfortunately, the photos do not do it justice, but we’ll have to deal with that! It is a navy blue and white striped long sleeve cotton shirt with cut out shoulders. It is flowy and very stretchy, which I love! I paired it with a simple pair of dark skinny jeggings and this adorable necklace! This, I also purchased last night! It is a long gold chain necklace with a white statement piece and tassel chain detailing! I finished off the look with my hunter boots; however, I recommend wearing a cute ballet flat or tan ankle boot, as long as the ground isn’t filled with puddles!

This look is so simple and everyday! What I love is the fact that you can pair the necklace with practically any shirt or dress and wear the shirt with any pair of pants or leggings! Cut out shoulders are very in and a way to accent a very unlikely part of your body. These items were both purchased at the Nordstrom Rack for great prices! I suggest checking them out!

So, what is your rainy day attire? Try a simple cotton shirt with a statement necklace, and you are good to go! Until next time!

**Nordstrom Rack does not have a great site because items differ depending on the store! But general link is below:

Bringin’ (Sexy) Preppy Back

Dressing preppy doesn’t always mean wear J crew and polo shirts. You can look preppy and feel classic and edgy at the same time. My outfit consists of some staple pieces that should be in every girls wardrobe!

I started by pairing some of my favorites dark wash skinny jeans with a jean blouse layered with a soft knit sweater. I specifically chose one with a cute, sassy logo, but you can always choose one that’s a solid color or has stripes. Layering these two pieces took some time to adjust, but I finally set them in a place that was comfortable on my body. I paired this look with a classy beaded necklace that included colors that complimented the rest of the neutral tones. If you do not have a beaded necklace, a big, chunky jeweled necklace would look just as fabulous. To finish off the look, I wore my chestnut, loafer flats with little gold studs along with my red peacoat. This pop of color brought the entire look together, adding a little spice. Of course this look can be rearranged to your liking, but these items are key to anyone’s closet in creating a simple easy look!
